The seat of Melbourne Ports will be the next inner city seat to falter.

It is not that Danby is a poor representative, he is not. (nor is Kennelly or Gillard). He is just let down by ineffective and unprofessional support staff. His office demonstrates the problems that the can occur if your administrative support is not up to scratch and not engagged in the local community.

Michael Danby’s office has been in disarray ever since Tonya Stephens and Tony Williams resigned.

During the last Federal election Danby’s office was unable to properly staff polling booths. (Something that Keneally also faced in NSW). The St Kilda booth, one of the biggest in Melbourne Ports, went unmanned. In the past St Kilda would have been the most supported booth. Volunteers were not organised or not forthcoming. If it was not for myself and Tony Lupton the ALP would have had no one handing out during the lunch time rush.

Danby’s Office has also come under criticism within the party for failing to provide local support to the State campaign. With the exception of Jane Sheldon Danby’s office was noted for their disengagment with the campaign.
